📻 Rebirth Radio / Rebirth Dance — 2007–2010 Status: 🔴 Original Rebirth Dance / Rebirth Radio format ended Started: 2007 Three-Stream Era: 2008–2010 Type: Internet Radio Music: Dance • Underground • DJ Mixes • Chart • Club Music 🎧 The Beginning of Rebirth Radio Rebirth Radio was created in 2007 by DJ and producer Ad Rebirth. The idea grew out of an earlier internet-radio experiment called Hidden Hand Radio, which had begun test broadcasts during the summer of 2005. Ad Rebirth wanted to create an internet station capable of keeping music playing around the clock. As the amount and variety of music increased, trying to fit everything onto one station became difficult. The answer was to split Rebirth into several different stations. 📡 Three Internet Radio Streams Between 2008 and 2010, Rebirth operated three separate internet streams: 🎵 Rebirth Radio — the main station, concentrating on contemporary and accessible music. 💿 Rebirth Classics — classic hits and older favourites. 🔥 Rebirth Dance — DJ mixes and underground dance music, including guest mixes from other DJs. For underground dance fans, Rebirth Dance was the interesting part of the network. Rather than simply running a normal playlist, it provided a home for DJ sets and mixes from different contributors. 🔥 Rebirth Dance Becomes Rebirth Radio UK The original three-stream arrangement didn't last forever. In late 2010, Rebirth Dance and Rebirth Radio were merged together, creating a new station called: 📻 Rebirth Radio UK The new format combined both sides of the old stations. During the daytime, Rebirth Radio UK concentrated on chart and commercial music. In the evenings, it switched over to the more underground sounds associated with Rebirth Dance. 🎧 More Than 50 DJs Rebirth Radio UK developed an impressive DJ roster. According to Rebirth's own history, more than 50 DJs eventually contributed to its schedules. Names included: 🎧 Lisa Pin-Up 🎧 Gammer 🎧 K Warren Alongside them were numerous resident and underground DJs contributing shows and mixes. 🔴 What Happened? The original Rebirth Dance internet station effectively ended when it was merged into Rebirth Radio UK in late 2010. Rebirth Radio UK itself continued for several more years. On 1 January 2016, Rebirth Radio UK was switched off and immediately replaced by a remodelled station using the Rebirth Radio name. So this isn't the story of a radio project completely disappearing. It's the story of an early internet-radio network repeatedly changing, merging and evolving. The modern Rebirth Radio continues broadcasting today, but the original **Rebirth Dance stream and 2007–2010 three-station setup are now part of internet-radio history. 🕰️ Do You Remember Rebirth Dance?
