# DJ Jason Bushby – Powerhouse / Colosseum / North East Rave Another name that deserves a place in our **North East rave archive** is: ## DJ Jason Bushby Jason Bushby's history goes back to the early days of the North East dance and rave scene, well before the later **New Monkey and Makina era**. His name is connected with: **Powerhouse After Dark Blue Monkey / Club Fiesta The Colosseum After Dark 2** and there are still original recordings surviving from the 1990s. ## Powerhouse One of the biggest parts of Bushby's history is **Powerhouse**. Historical coverage dates the promotion back to **1994**, when it became part of the North East rave circuit, including events around **Stockton and Redcar**. Several original recordings survive featuring: **DJ Jason Bushby & MC G-Force** including Powerhouse tapes from **1994, 1995 and 1996**. One particularly good survivor is: **Powerhouse – 23 February 1996 G-Force Birthday Bash DJ Jason Bushby & MC G-Force** The Bushby and G-Force combination appears repeatedly in the surviving archive. ## After Dark – Sunderland Jason was also connected with the legendary **After Dark** scene in Sunderland. A surviving 1994 recording features: **DJ Jason Bushby DJ Full Effect MC G-Force** Another is labelled: **After Dark – The Final Event – 24 June 1994 DJ Jason Bushby & MC G-Force** These tapes take us back to an important period before North East Makina became established. ## Blue Monkey / Club Fiesta – Norton There's also a brilliant surviving recording from **1994**: **The Blue Monkey DJ Jason Bushby MC G-Force & MC Kaos** The Norton venue was also associated with the **Club Fiesta** name and would later become known as: # The Colosseum That makes the recording particularly important for our Teesside archive. It captures part of the building's rave history **before the classic Colosseum period**. ## The Colosseum Bushby remained connected with the scene as the venue became **The Colosseum**. Surviving recordings include Jason Bushby at the Colosseum during **1996**, alongside other DJs and North East MCs from the period. The music around these clubs included: **Hardcore Bouncy Techno Happy Hardcore European Dance Hard Trance** with the distinctive North East tradition of MCs performing over the DJs. ## Before New Monkey & Makina This is why DJs like Jason Bushby are important when documenting the history properly. The North East already had a strong **DJ + MC rave culture** before the New Monkey era. Ravers were collecting tapes. MCs were developing their own local style. DJs were playing fast British and European records. Clubs such as **After Dark, Powerhouse and the Colosseum** helped establish the culture that later generations continued. ## Powerhouse Returns The Powerhouse name didn't disappear either. The brand returned decades later, bringing original names from the scene back together. Jason Bushby was among those associated with the revival alongside names including: **Full Effect MC G-Force MC Stompin** So this isn't simply a forgotten name from an old cassette. It's part of a North East rave story stretching across several decades. --- # Do You Remember DJ Jason Bushby? Did you hear Jason at: **Powerhouse? After Dark? Blue Monkey / Club Fiesta?
