# MC Scotty Jay – North East Makina / New Monkey MC **MC Scotty Jay** is a long-running North East Makina MC whose history stretches from the **New Monkey and Hangar 13 era** through to today's North East rave scene. ## The New Monkey Scotty Jay appears on surviving recordings from Sunderland's legendary **New Monkey**. One particularly strong example is the **Valentine's Day 2004** recording featuring: **MC TNT MC Ace MC Scotty Jay** The complete recording has since been officially released digitally by The New Monkey. Another surviving New Monkey release pairs: **MC Stompin & MC Scotty Jay** while other archive material features Scotty Jay alongside **MC Ronez**. ## Hangar 13 Scotty Jay was also closely connected with **Hangar 13**. A surviving recording from **28 August 2005** features DJs Quest, Carter and Direct alongside: **MC Tazo MC Ace MC Scotty Jay MC Impulse MC Stretch** Another Hangar 13 recording from **16 April 2006** features: **MC Stretch MC Energize MC Scotty Jay MC Impulse** These recordings place Scotty Jay right among many of the MCs now recognised with the classic North East Makina period. ## The Untouchables Scotty Jay also became associated with **The Untouchables**, alongside: **MC Stretch MC Impulse** The three MCs are another example of the B2B and group-MC culture that became such a major feature of North East Makina. ## Sunderland & Northern Bounce Scotty Jay continued appearing around Sunderland after the original New Monkey period. One surviving recording features: **DJ Quest & MC Scotty Jay – Northern Bounce – Passion Sunderland** Again, it shows how the DJs and MCs associated with the original Makina scene continued performing after the clubs and promoters changed. ## Still Going in 2026 Scotty Jay isn't simply part of the archive. He's still involved with North East rave culture. In **2023**, Scotty Jay joined **DJ Major and DJ Frostie** in taking over the running of **Hysteria**, one of the North East's established rave brands. Hysteria later moved to **Powerhouse Newcastle** and continues putting on Makina and rave events. There's also a **2026 recording featuring Impulse, Stretch & Scotty Jay**, showing that the old combinations are still performing together more than two decades after their early sets. ## Not The New Monkey At the end of 2025, Project 88 released: **Not The New Monkey 2 – MC Scotty Jay** That's another great example of the New Monkey sound and MC culture continuing to influence new Makina recordings. ## Part of North East Rave History From: **The New Monkey Hangar 13 Northern Bounce The Untouchables Hysteria** to modern Makina recordings, **MC Scotty Jay has remained connected with the North East rave scene for more than two decades.** His surviving sets alongside TNT, Ace, Tazo, Stretch, Impulse and Stompin also make him another important name in the WGR archive. --- ## Do You Remember MC Scotty Jay?
