MC TECHNO T: A VOICE OF NORTH EAST RAVE

North East England’s rave story lives in its recordings as well as its venues. MC Techno T is a name that connects those archives with more recent event bills: credited on Colosseum recordings from the 1990s and listed among the MCs for a Newcastle event in 2026.

For this first feature in WGR’s MC's category, we are looking at that documented musical trail — and giving listeners a few starting points to explore it for themselves.

THE COLOSSEUM RECORDINGS

One archive upload on SoundCloud is labelled as a Colosseum recording from 16 December 1995, crediting DJ Attack, DJ NRG, MC G-Force and MC Techno-T. Another, uploaded by magpie303, pairs DJ Morris with MC Techno T and is dated 1996. These are useful entry points into the live-set culture surrounding his name.

DJ NRG’s SoundCloud account also carries a recording labelled Colosseum, 1 November 1997, with Techno-T among the credited MCs. Taken together, these uploads show why a search through complete sets can tell a different story from a search through conventional singles and albums. The MC’s contribution is preserved within a shared performance, alongside the DJ and other voices on the microphone.

A NAME REMEMBERED BY OTHER MCS

There is also a direct sign of Techno T’s influence in another performer’s own profile. On SoundCloud, MC Double M names Techno T among his early influences, alongside Stompin, Attack, Jet and Scotty Jay. That is a specific personal acknowledgement, rather than a claim that any one MC speaks for the whole region.

FROM ARCHIVE TAPES TO RECENT EVENT BILLS

Techno T’s name is not confined to old recording titles. The organiser’s listing for Andy Whitby & Friends at Digital in Newcastle, dated 28 February 2026, includes MC TECHNO-T in the Monta Musica lineup. The event was advertised across two rooms of bounce, Makina and classics.

That listing connects a familiar archive name with a later generation of North East dance events. It documents the advertised lineup; it should not be mistaken for a review or confirmation of every individual performance.

EDITORIAL NOTE

This independent WGR feature uses publicly available recording descriptions, an artist profile and an organiser-supplied event listing checked in September 2026. Historic set dates and credits are presented as labelled by their uploaders, not independently authenticated tape provenance. Linked recordings remain hosted by their respective platforms; WGR does not claim ownership. The page uses WGR’s default blog artwork, not a photograph of MC Techno T.
