MC G-Force: From After Dark to The Colosseum

MC G-Force’s story reaches back into the early years of North East rave. His own online archive connects the microphone with After Dark, The Colosseum and the DJs who helped shape those nights. STARTING YOUNG

On his Mixcloud profile, G-Force says he began MCing at 16, when MCs were still relatively uncommon. He describes performing around the country and in Europe, naming Carl Cox, Joey Beltram, Nipper, Sy and Stu Allan among the DJs he has worked with.

The profile lists Newcastle as his location. Rather than using an undated biography to calculate his age or an exact career-start year, we can look to the dated recordings in his archive for a clearer picture of the period represented.

RECOGNISED WITHIN THE SCENE

In a 2014 interview with Teesside Tunes, MC Banks named G-Force among the North East’s earliest known MCs while discussing the roots of the region’s microphone culture. It is a useful acknowledgement from another performer, placing G-Force in the story that came before later generations of North East makina MCs.

AFTER DARK: NEW YEAR 1992–93

One starting point is the remastered Afterdark New Year’s Eve 1992–93 recording on G-Force’s Mixcloud account. Its title credits Promobots, eXcel, Destroy and G-Force, giving listeners a named session from the early 1990s to explore.

In a reply beneath the upload, G-Force described the recording as his most requested set and said he had finally obtained the audio after 25 years. That small detail shows why preserving old recordings matters: even a performer may spend years trying to recover a particular night.

THE COLOSSEUM WITH DJ ATTACK

Another remastered upload pairs DJ Attack with MC G-Force at The Colosseum, dated 16 December 1995. It provides a direct listening connection with the DJ & MC Attack feature in WGR’s MC series.
